TIPS FOR EATING AT A BUFFET
The 12 Days of Christmas at the Pan Pacific Hotel
- Scan the table first before you get started.
Have a look at all the options and keep your selections to a few items
not everything.
- Try small amounts, you can always go back for
seconds.
- Pay attention to calorie-density. The more fat
there is the more calories there are in a small little serving. Try
to limit or avoid foods with cream sauces, lots of butter or oil,
limit the amount of dressing you put on your salad and avoid fried
foods. Have a small portion of the homemade spinach and ricotta ravioli
What how foods are prepared: Go for steamed, baked,
broiled or grilled rather than fried or deep fried. Try the roast turkey
and the seasonal vegetables.
- Emphasize the good fats. Have some of the seafood
salad, roasted squash with pumpkin seed oil or the Grilled BC salmon.
- Hydration. Always order water with your meals.
Especially if you have coffee, alcohol or anything really sweet or
salty.
- Practice Pleasure Maximization: Don’t feel
you need to avoid the desserts, just don’t taste them all. Select
one or two of your absolute favorites and enjoy every bite. It’s
Christmas after all!
- Portion Control: Don’t treat your body like
a human garbage bin, if you are full, stop eating. You don’t need
to try to “eat” your money’s worth.
